Dubai visa requirements: build the right document list

Requirements vary by permission type, passport, provider, sponsor and whether the applicant is inside or outside the UAE. Use a common-document list only as preparation; the handler’s current checklist controls your application.

Passport checks before submission

  • Use the same passport for the application and travel unless the handler gives written instructions for a replacement.
  • Confirm the required remaining validity for your exact route; six months is common in official visitor guidance but exceptions and other document types exist.
  • Make sure names, passport number, nationality, date of birth, issue and expiry dates are readable and entered exactly.
  • Report a lost/stolen passport and do not travel on a document recorded as invalid.
  • Ask the authority about emergency passports or refugee travel documents rather than assuming ordinary-passport rules apply.

Photo and file preparation

GDRFA’s tourist service lists a personal photo and passport copy, but the accepting provider determines the current file format, dimensions and quality rules. Avoid relying on an old blog post for pixels or file size.

Keep an untouched original. Create clearly named working copies, check that no edge or information is cut off, and transmit them only through the verified provider channel.

Final document audit

  1. Write the exact visa/service name at the top of your checklist.
  2. Record the provider, official source URL and date checked.
  3. Separate required, conditional and requested-later items.
  4. Check document expiry against travel and application dates.
  5. Confirm whether translation, attestation or colour scans are required.
  6. Run a character-by-character check of identity details before submission.
