Visa validity
Visa validity can describe more than one clock. Identify whether a date controls entry, time allowed after entry, a residence document or the current official record.
Read each date in context
The last date on which permission can be used to enter is not automatically the date on which a stay ends. Once the traveller enters, another rule may set the permitted stay. The issued document and official movement record control the individual answer.
Record these separately
- Issue date
- Last date to enter
- Actual entry date
- Permitted stay or authorised-until date
- Number of entries
- Extension or status-change decision
Why calculators disagree
A calculator follows assumptions entered by the user. It cannot see the authority's movement record, decide whether arrival/departure days count in a particular case, or confirm an extension. Use it to plan, then check the official record.
